Renal and Urologic Interventions
Renal Interventions
- Renal Artery Stenosis Treatment
- Initial MRA to assess renal artery flow
- Angiogram with stenting and/or angioplasty of the renal arteries to treat stenosis causing recurrent hypertension and FMD
- Placement of dialysis access catheters
- Temporary access for immediate dialysis
- Semi-permanent access for continued dialysis
- AV Graft Declotting
- Careful removal of thrombus in AV Grafts that forms normally with repeated use.
- Stents placed in persistently narrowed areas.
- Fistula evaluation and Treatment
- Fistulagrams to initially evaluate flow.
- Angioplasty of narrowed segments
- Cryoplasty (angioplasty with a special balloon that freezes the vessel) in recurrent narrowed segments.
- Cutting Balloons (balloons with blades that cut plaque) used in highly resistive narrowed areas.
- Central Venous Evaluation
- Venography with venoplasty of central occlusions that often arise from repeated subclavian venous access.
- Pre-surgical Embolization
- Entire arterial bed of kidney can be embolized prior to planned surgical removal
- Useful in cases of highly vascular tumors or when significant blood loss is anticipated.
- Nephrostomy Tubes
- Ureteral Stents
- Dialysis Access
- Tunneled Permanent Lines
- Temporary Central Lines
- AV Graft Declotting
- AV Fistula Angioplasty
- Renal Embolization (pre-surgical)
Urology
Working in conjuction with urologists, IR can serve a role in safe and comprehensive management of urologic disease.
- Nephrostomy tubes
- Ureteral Stents
- Suprapubic catheters
Hepatobiliar, Hpatic Disease
- Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography
- Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drains
- Percutaneous Biliary Stents
- Trans-jugular Liver Biopsies
- TIPS (Trans-jugular Intrahepatic Portosystemt Shunt)
- Cholecystostomy Tubes
Oncology
- Chemoembolization of Hepatic Tumors
- Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatic, Renal, or Lung Tumors
- Yittrium-90 (Therasphere) Ablation of Hepatic Tumors
- Chest Port Placement
